We setup a not-for-profit lab (in Noida) from our own money and a government partnership lab (not for profit) in karnal in 2015. MBX helped write India's STEM outreach program - called Atal Innovation mission for the Niti Ayog (Government of India's think tank). Over the past 5 Years, we have impacted over 10,000 children in India in private schools in our For-Profit company,

In late 2019, MakersBox Foundation (ORG) was setup as a not-for-profit arm, to increase reach to the schools and school going children at the bottom of the pyramid across India. With nearly 113 Million studentsin Government schools in India [1],ORG's goal is to impact these chilren and deliver Skill Based Education using a STEM / Maker Space / Project Based Learning Approach.

Current Status on ORG
MakersBox Foundation has 1 full time person and a few volunteers. MakersBox Foundation has a blog setup at https://medium.com/makersbox-foundation. The full time person is meeting with government officers to coordinate school acess etc.

MakersBox Foundation has been appointed by Haryana State Government and Uttar Pradesh State Government as their STEM Education Pro-Bono Consultant to provide inputs on how to design a State wide implementation. We are also in talks with Government of NCT Delhi, and Government of Punjab to open STEM Labs across the States to offer Education and Project Based Learning to the Students of these States.

What are we doing

We are addressing this by brining STEM Education and Maker Space based Learning to villages and rural schools of India. We started as a for-profit enterprise in 2015, and over the past 5 years have delivered multiple learning spaces to private schools, and also partnered with the government and libraries to run pop-up maker spaces. It is time we take this mission to the next level by setting up spaces in schools and cities that cater to the bottom of the pyramid.
