It has been a while we connected (Hope you still remember me). I hope you are doing well and things are good at your end. In 2019, We setup the MakersBox Foundation to deliver STEM Education and 21st Century Skills to children at the Bottom of the Pyramid. We have been involved in Education through a division of ours for sometime, and we believe that to deliver change, we have to do the work ourselves. Sadly the moment the Foundation went live, COVID started shutting down schools, but after all this time, we finally are live, and in June of 2022, we opened our First Learning Nook in the Urban Village of Jaitpur. The Nook is based out of a Small room, and has an attached pantry and washroom.
Over the last two months, we have catered to nearly 100 Children, and made impact in how they talk, use English as a Language, and have also seen an improvement in attendance at school as well as learning.
We use tools such as 3D Printers, Arduino and Raspberry Pi Based Micro Controllers, and Robotics kits to teach these children. Each of our Nook costs, roughly Rs. 5 Lacs to setup and Rs. 12 Lacs Per Year to run, where we cater to about a 100 Children every month, bringing the cost to about Rs. 1000 Per Child Per Month.
I understand that we all have worries about if the donations to make an impact, and I assure that you the Foundation has tight regulations to ensure that 90% and above is used for beneficiaries, and less than 10% is administrative Cost. While I personally only mentor, and volunteer with the Foundation, I am reaching out to you to come on board as one of our Donors. Your donation would not only ensure that we have longevity to the foundation, but also every penny that we get in the door, ends up impacting a child and improving their lives.
Currently we are looking at the Following Goals
Open another Nook in Delhi. Our Current nook is overflowing, and the impact it is having is great. We are now raising Funds (Rs. 5 Lacs) to open another Nook
Buy a Maruti Van, and Fit it out to Convert it to a Mobile Maker Space. Weekly markets are a common sight in Delhi, and if you look at the community of traders in these markets, these families move from one location to another location, so one day (Saturday) they are in East of Kailash, then on another day (Wednesday) they are in Andrews Ganj. Markets setup at about 3 PM in the afternoon and children of these traders usually sit around in the parks, help out at shops and or loiter around. The Mobile maker space can follow them through the week and train them in a Park.
Fund Raise Requirement: Rs. 10 Lacs
You can either help us with one of the Bigger Fund Raises, of Helping opening another Nook, or helping us Buy the Maruti Van. Alternatively there are 3 Different ways of engagement (Annual Donations)
Sponsor A Child Every Year Year: As Shared a Child's training cost comes to approximately Rs. 1000 Per Child Per month, and in an ideal world - including a snack, and stationery this cost goes to Rs. 1500 Per Child Per Month. Donate a One Time Fee of Rs. 18,000 (Per Child) - In Multiples of how you would like to donate
Become a Major Donor Every Year: A 51,000 Rupee Donation will set you up as a Major Donor. Not only does this help out roughly 3 Children per year, but gives us a lumpsum to ensure growth of the nooks and reach out.
Setup a Scholarship: A Rs. 1,00,000 Grant sponsors a scholarship, where we will not only have the children be a part of the STEM Education, 21st Century Skills training, but also sponsor their school education, uniform, and after school classroom sessions.
Please note each of our Donations can be given an 80G Certificate, that can be used for an Income Tax Benefit. The Donations can come from an Individual or a Corporate.
